Seventies Hall

The Seventies Hall was dedicated during the last week of December 1844.

City council meetings and priesthood quorum business meetings where held here in room like this one with a speaker’s stand at one end.

The artifacts displayed on the second floor were found during restoration of various Nauvoo sites in the 1960s and 1970s.

Library

The Seventies Hall Library today is a separate room upstairs. In the 1840s, the library collection was probably housed in a free-standing bookcase that was covered with a curtain when not in use

In the Library today are rosters of the 35 quorums of Seventy that existed at the time of the Saints’ exodus.

Doctor's office

Like the library, the doctor’s office on the second floor was most likely not a separate room, but a partition that could be removed when needed. Dr. Jesse C. Braley treated his patients on the lower level of the Seventies Hall during 1844 and 1845.
